48 Hours of Fun in Mount Washington Valley, New Hampshire

We were guests of Mt. Washington Valley located in New Hampshire, all experiences are my own.

As you probably know, we recently went on a mini vacation in New Hampshire. Of the 4 days we spent there, we spent about 48 of those hours in the Mount Washington Valley area. Looking back, I still can’t believe how much action we ended up squeezing into the two days and we had actually arrived late and missed stopping at Wildcat Mountain to go on their ZipRider and scenic Gondola Ride. We were all so disappointed. We had some GPS woes, so be sure to research your location before heading off on a road trip!

Not to worry though, luckily we spotted a little carnival taking place down the road at Gorham Town Common. They had a live band playing, rides and games and of course fabulous smelling junk food that is no good for you but is absolutely tempting at the same time?! Enter deep fried Oreos! So delicious! We were good and shared an order, it was tempting not to get more. They also had cheesecake dipped in chocolate on a stick… oh my! Next time I spot those, I am going to try em!

Next we checked into Royalty Inn located right in the center of all the action. The location is awesome for visiting the area.  The rooms were simple and just right for a short stay. I was a little disappointed at the shoddy internet service. Apparently we were staying in the one room that doesn’t get internet? Not a good room for a blogger!  But, for a budget friendly vacation with a smart location, this is your place.  Our favorite perk was the extensive health club on the property and also the indoor and outdoor pools.

After a run to the local Super Walmart to grab some things we needed for our white water rafting trip we headed off to bed. Next morning, we headed off to Raft NH located just down the road from the hotel for a day of pure excitement! We had such a blast, it was our first time! Our guide was totally awesome and made our first trip an amazing one that we won’t soon forget! After a long day of rafting, we headed off to meet the dogs at Dog Sled NH. We were originally  supposed to do their Paws & Paddles package but it was too hot for the dogs to take us out on a rolling sled ride. This is definitely being added to my bucket list for next time.

That was certainly enough adventure for one day! On day two, weather was a little funky so we re-arranged our schedule a bit. First we headed to take a guided tour up Mt. Washington. Because, what would a trip to Mount Washington Valley be if not for a pit stop to the summit of the ole mountain itself? Our guide was unbelievably knowledgeable and told us so many interesting things about everything from A to Z revolving around the mountain.

Lastly, before heading out of the area, we headed over to Northeast ATV to have a sweet tour!  On the 2 hour drive we saw some spectacular views including mountains in the distance and even a waterfall! Heck, I even swallowed a few bugs. Good times!

We had such a tremendous time although our visit was short. I literally don’t think we could have packed much more into our trip!

: Have you ever been white water rafting or for a ride on an ATV? :

  1. Sometimes the mini vacations end up to be the best… You know you have to squeeze a lot in so you do. I have never been to Mount Washington Valley but now…. I want to go.

  2. It looks beautiful there! I am happy you had such a great time! But, you made me crave a fried oreo now 🙂

  3. Cheesecake dipped in chocolate on a stick? That alone would have made the trip for me! It looks like you had a great time.

  4. We need to take a little trip here! My family would love this.

  5. What an amazing trip! I bet the rafting was fun. You certainly did enough to work off those deep fried Oreos. 🙂

  6. Looks like a great vacation. I am not familiar with NH or what is available so this was great information.

  7. We were there back in 2007 and loved the area. We took the train or whatever it was called to the top. Breathtaking view. Great area to visit. Would love to go back again.

  8. I had heard of deep-fried Oreos but they look better than I had pictured. I want one!

  9. I have never been water rafting or on an ATV. I’m kind of a wuss when it comes to those things. My hubby on the other hand would love these things. He’s been on an ATV before when he was younger. He got injured! But he said he’d go again in a heartbeat.

  10. It looks like you had quite the adventure! I would love to go water rafting – I’ve never been but it looks like so much fun!

  11. looks like a great place to visit.

  12. That looks like an awesome trip! I can’t wait til we can go on a trip as a family!

  13. Oreos are my weakness! I can’t even imagine how good they were deep-fried!

  14. OMG! Deep fried oreos? Please don’t let my kids see that! That rafting looks like fun, too!

  15. New Hampshire is beautiful-it has been many years since I went there for a vacation. Never did go white water rafting but spent a lot of time rowing in a pristine lake and just relaxing! You certainly did manage to get a lot into that short mini vacation!

  16. You sure did pack a lot into such a short trip. Sounds like you had an awesome time. Now I want to try a fried oreo.

  17. Yes! I went ATV’ing through the jungle in Cozumel during our honeymoon last year. It was amazing!! Seriously one of the most exhilarating, and fun experiences I’ve had. I was the leader of the group, along with the tour guide, and almost hit a dog that was crossing the road! We saw cows, a beautiful little pond, some caves. It was messy but Awesome! I am considering going white water rafting in my upcoming trip to Costa Rica (leaving Friday), but am a little weary because I do not know how to swim! Would you recommend it for a non-swimmer?

    • Are you kidding! WOW that sounds AMAZING!!! I can only imagine!

The trip we went on was so safe, before starting they went over safety rules and told us what to do in a variety of circumstances. The tour guides ensure that you have your life vest on properly too. It was family friendly so the waves were just right. Not a single person went overboard although of course that could happen! I would recommend looking for a beginner’s tour, that might be your best bet to “get your feet wet”. Good luck! Have fun on your TRIP!

  18. Wow! Looks like you had great time! And those deep fried Oreos, would love to try!
I have been on water rafting, but never tried ATV.

  19. It looks like this was a very fun trip.

  20. Oooh I’d love to visit that area! One of these days… Anyway, it looks like you all had a great time!

  21. We love traveling, but have never been to New Hampshire!

  22. Looks like you had an amazing time on your vacation, I would love to take my boys. I have never been white water rafting I would be too scared.

  23. This looks like a wonderful place to visit! I have always wanted to go to New Hampshire.

  24. Looks sooo beautiful there… one day I get to go there too .. Soo hope; I always wanted to visit New Hampshire… will pin it for my bucket list; thanks for sharing; loved your pictures and sure sounded like you guys had a blast

  25. That looked like so much fun! My daughter tried those fried oreos down at the shore once…..to much chocolate for me, personally, but she liked them!

  26. You had me at “Deep-fried Oreos”!! What fun.

  27. I’m not a very adventurous person so no, I’ve never tried anything like that. I’d love to go visit just to try those chocolate covered cheesecakes on a stick. Yum!

  28. it looks like so much fun there and very pretty. I have only been to new Hampshire once to visit the hubbies family but we went to Dover and Portsmouth area.

  29. I want some deep fried OREOS. That is one thing I have wanted to try since I heard about them. I have yet to see New Hampshire, but I hope to one day. Looks like a great time and some yummy food!
