From time to time Adventure Yum is provided with travel products and services for review purposes. The opinions expressed about the Kobo Mini for travel are my own.
As exciting as traveling is, the getting here to there part isn’t always that thrilling. Napping is a pretty good solution to kill the time, but there indeed some really wonderful options on there for entertainment in transit. We’ve been going on a lot of road trips lately and generally I drive. So, I have access to the radio to entertain myself for the most part and of course fun conversations and taking in the views with my hubby. But, for our son who is generally the one sitting in the back of the car isn’t quite as entertained as we are. I had the chance to try out the Kobo Mini and it’s the perfect eReader for traveling whether on the road or in air. One thing that I really like is that it’s an affordable option (currently on sale for only $39.99) to keep teens and tweens as well as adults entertained on the go!
Are we there yet?
If you have children of any age, you have no doubt heard this question at least a million times. Believe it or not, there are some solutions that might help alleviate the age old question!
Why is the Kobo Mini Great for Travel?
There are a few great reasons that the Kobo Mini is perfect for travel and on-the-go.
- Easy to use. Some electronics can be really time consuming to figure out. The Kobo Mini is not one of them. I found it to be unbelievably simple to use. The small pamphlet of directions that comes with the product are very simple to follow, it doesn’t come with a huge book to read which is refreshing. This eReader pretty much walks you through the entire setup process in just minutes. Once you connect the unit to your computer, it tells you what to do. You’ll start off by heading to their special set up website to create and account and get your library and account synced.
- Lightweight & Small. I still can’t believe how light the Kobo Mini is. Their website refers to it being “light as a feather” which sounded lovely but not believable until I held it for myself. It is in fact currently the lightest and the smallest eReader on the market. It weighs in at only 4.73 ounces, so it definitely won’t be holding you down, that is for sure! This makes it perfect for tucking away in your travel bags or even right in your pocket.
- No Glare Screen. Seeing is believing. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried using my laptop outdoors and without cover it can be very frustrating. With the glare of the sun, it is virtually impossible to see the screen to get anything accomplished. The Kobo Mini has special screen technology that they call “Pearl E Ink screen”. You can really see the difference between a typical tablet or computer screen. This is important while traveling since you will likely be sitting near a window with light shining in on your reader.
- Access to Free eBooks. Another perk to owning a Kobo is that you’ll have access to their free library of books. There are currently about 200 free options to choose from. You can add them to your library for hours of free reading while traveling. The cost of their other e-books are very reasonable and much less than purchasing physical books that can also be heavy to travel with.
I love that you can purchase their ebooks directly from the Kobo Mini or through your computer. You can easily sync your Kobo with your computer to download your library anytime. So whether you are on the go, young or older, the Kobo Mini is a really great option for ease of use, affordable reading and light and convenient traveling.
You can purchase the Kobo Mini on the Kobo Website for only $39.99 for a limited time. The Mini comes in your choice of black or white.
